Calling All House DJs!
Take over the decks for the Sound & Sand Society!
We’re opening up our booth to the city’s best local talent! This is your chance to play on a professional, club-ready system in front of a live crowd!
A few hours of all of our events are dedicated to open decks, community artists, and special guest headliners. While anyone can sign up to play, priority will be given to those with a pre-assigned time slot. Please arrive early and be ready to begin your set at your scheduled time. If a scheduled DJ is not ready to start their set, we will immediately pick the next ready DJ to take the slot on a first-come, first-play basis.
STRICT LAPTOP POLICY: NO LAPTOPS PERMITTED
To maintain the high aesthetic standards and professional atmosphere of our DJ booth, we have instituted a strict no-laptop policy for all performers.
The Recommended & Required Method (USB Drive)
You will be using our in-house AlphaTheta XDJ-AZ all-in-one DJ system. Your music must be on a USB device that has been analyzed and exported using rekordbox 6.8.1+ Device Library Plus. No other equipment will be allowed on the decks without authorization.
DJ Changeover Procedure
Please have your USB drive ready to go before the end of the previous DJ's set.
1. The current DJ will load a song into Deck 1.
2. The current DJ will stop the drive and then unplug their device from the USB slot.
3. The new DJ will immediately insert their device into the USB slot, select SOURCE, and then load a song into Deck 2.
4. The new DJ will then transition to Deck 2.
This will ensure a seamless transition and will keep the music flowing for the crowd.
Media & Promotional Opportunity
We are committed to helping our performers advance their careers and build their media presence! We will have a dedicated video photographer present at most events to professionally capture your set.
This is a fantastic opportunity to elevate your portfolio:
- Portfolio Builder: You'll receive high-quality footage and photos of your performance 1-2 weeks after the event. Perfect for upgrading your EPK (Electronic Press Kit), social media, and securing future bookings.
- YouTube Feature: Your set footage is automatically considered for a feature on the official Sound & Sand Society YouTube channel, guaranteeing extended exposure to a new audience.
Media Consent & Usage
To participate in our events and receive this media exposure, all performers agree to the following mandatory media terms:
- Your participation grants Sound & Sand Society the right to use your performance footage (both video and stills) for future promotional material indefinitely. This includes, but is not limited to, sharing clips on social media, using imagery for future event advertising, and posting full-set videos to our YouTube channel.
- All confirmed performers must post announcements promoting the event on their social media platforms prior to the date of the event.

Artist Signup / Music Submission
By attending this event, whether as a participant or otherwise (e.g. as a supporter), you acknowledge that images may be captured during the event using film photography, digital photography, video or other medium and may be used by the Sound & Sand Society (S&S) to promote the organization and its work, or other future events by the S&S via S&S’ websites, social media websites, promotional leaflets and brochures and other publicity material (such as internal and external newsletters). The images may also be provided to the media for publication in local or national newspapers or magazines.
