Calling All DJs! Take over the decks at Sound & Sand Society's Sunset Dance Party! We’re opening up our booth to the city’s best local talent! This is your chance to play on a professional, club-ready system in front of a live crowd! The first two hours of the event are dedicated to the open deck format. While anyone can sign up to play, priority will be given to those with a pre-assigned time slot. Please arrive early and be ready to begin your set at your scheduled time. If a scheduled DJ is not ready to start their set, we will immediately pick the next ready DJ to take the slot on a first-come, first-play basis.
Required Equipment
You will be using our in-house AlphaTheta XDJ-AZ all-in-one DJ system. No other equipment will be allowed on the decks without authorization.
The Recommended & Required Method (USB Drive)
Your music library must be on a USB device that has been prepared using rekordbox 6.8.1+ Device Library Plus.
DJ Changeover Procedure
Please have your USB drive ready to go before the end of the previous DJ's set.
1. The current DJ will stop recording then load a song into Deck 1.
2. The current DJ will stop the drive and then unplug their device from the USB slot.
3. The new DJ will immediately insert their device into the USB slot, select SOURCE, and then load a song into Deck 2.
4. The new DJ will start recording and then transition to Deck 2.
This will ensure a seamless transition and will keep the music flowing for the crowd.
Advanced Option: Using Your Laptop
If you require advanced features, you may connect a laptop with the lid closed for use in HID mode only. All laptop users must be fully prepared and bring their own equipment.
Software & OS Requirements:
* Your laptop must be running rekordbox 6.8+ (with a macOS version of Catalina 10.15+)
* OR Serato DJ Pro 3.2.4+ (with a macOS version of Ventura 13+)
What to Bring: You must bring your own laptop stand, power adapter/charger, USB-C cable, and any required adapters.
HID Mode Setup:
* Connect your laptop directly to the XDJ-AZ using a USB-C cable (please do not use a hub).
* On the XDJ-AZ, select the deck you wish to control and press the SOURCE button.
* Select "PC" to connect and link to your software.
Power Settings: To prevent your laptop from sleeping when the lid is closed, you must configure your power settings beforehand. On macOS, this is found in System Settings > Battery. On Windows, it's in Power Options.
We look forward to seeing you at our Open Decks!
